Thoughts about FabCon and SQLCon 2026

I want to share my initial thoughts about FabCon and SQLCon 2026 in this post. Since it is still fresh in my mind.

This year’s event was bigger than last years for many reasons. Including the size of the venue, the number of attendees and sponsors plus the addition of SQLCon. Just like last year Microsoft provided a community corner and a wide variety of ask the experts panel booths.

The sheer number of announcements during this event was amazing. Especially during the keynote. You could feel the excitement in the arena whilst all the announcements were being made, and the related demos shown.

There are plenty of posts relating to the keynote announcements already. However, I will cover some of the CI/CD related ones in a later post. Including the ability to compare code changes with Git integration, which caused a lot of excitement.

In the meantime, for a comprehensive list of what is new in Microsoft Fabric this month check out the Fabric March 2026 Feature Summary.

There was a lot of excitement during the sessions as well. Including during Power Hour. Surreal to think that the seats below got filled up so fast for it.

During the event I wore many hats, as symbolized in the below photo.

Including presenting a workshop to a sold-out audience, the Microsoft creators program, Fabric partner discussions, ask the experts panel and the community corner.

In fact, in just one day I ended up walking around twenty-four thousand steps in the venue alone. Which is fine because giving back to the community gives me a lot of energy. I feel very honored that people came up to thank me afterwards. Plus, the number of people interested in my Azure DevOps extension.

Final words about FabCon and SQLCon 2026

I hope that my thoughts about FabCon and SQLCon 2026 resonates with those who attended. In addition, I hope it also encourages others to attend in the future as well.

Plus, I want to encourage others to visit the community corner at future events. Whether it is to discuss community topics such as certifications or take part in packing donations. Because that can be very rewarding.

  1. I totally resonate with you! A total must-see for data professionals… and apparently, the place to go if you need a new hat collection
